Day 2: Luang Prabang City Tour - Mekong Excursion (Pak Ou Caves)

After breakfast, begin your exploration of Luang Prabang, the former capital of the Kingdom of a Million Elephants. Your city tour starts with a visit to the Royal Palace Museum, where you’ll gain insight into the daily life of the last Lao royal family before the rise of the Pathet Lao. Next, visit the magnificent Wat Xiengthong, known for its distinctively sloping roof, a prime example of classic Lao architecture. Continue with a visit to the beautiful Wat Mai and the stupa of Wat Visoun before heading to the Traditional Arts and Ethnology Centre, where you’ll learn about the country’s diverse ethnic minorities and their traditions.

After lunch, embark on a Mekong River cruise to the Pak Ou Caves, two interconnected grottoes housing thousands of golden Buddha statues of various shapes and sizes, left by pilgrims over the centuries.

On the way back, stop at Ban Muangkeo, a village renowned for its textile craftsmanship and traditional rice whisky production. Return to Luang Prabang for an overnight stay.

Day 3: Luang Prabang - Rice Farming Experience - Kuang Si Waterfalls

This morning, transfer by car to the Living Lands Organic Farm, where you will meet a local farming guide. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to participate in and experience each step of rice cultivation in a hands-on, interactive way. The tour concludes with a tasting of traditional rice-based foods, giving you a newfound appreciation for rice and the Lao farmers who continue to harvest it using traditional methods without modern machinery.

In the afternoon, visit the spectacular Kuang Si Waterfalls, where you can cool off with a refreshing swim in the crystal-clear natural pools or take a scenic walk along the forest trails surrounding the falls. Near the waterfalls, you’ll also have the chance to visit the Bear Rescue Center, an organization dedicated to protecting a unique species of Asiatic black bear. Before returning to the city, stop by the Butterfly Park, where you can admire a variety of beautiful butterflies.

Overnight at the hotel.

Day 4: Luang Prabang - Vang Vieng

Depart early in the morning for Vang Vieng, heading south along a winding yet breathtaking mountain road. Stop at Houi Hei to take in the stunning landscape before continuing to Kiu Kam Pone, a Khmu ethnic village, where you can freely explore and observe local life.

Next, pause at Phou Phueng Fa, a scenic viewpoint offering some of the most spectacular landscapes in Laos (weather permitting), where you can enjoy a free lunch.

In the afternoon, continue the journey through the Lao countryside, passing through a harmonious mix of mountains, hills, and plains. Stop at Ban Hin Ngon, a picturesque Hmong village, before making a final stop at the Phatang viewpoint, which offers an impressive view of a karst landscape shaped by natural erosion.

Arrive in Vang Vieng in the late afternoon. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 5: Vang Vieng - Vientiane

After breakfast, visit an organic farm, where you will learn about sustainable agricultural practices. Then, board a traditional boat for a scenic cruise along the Nam Song River, enjoying the adventure and breathtaking landscapes.

After disembarking, explore the famous Tham Jang Cave, once used by locals as a hideout during the Chinese invasion. After the visit, continue south towards Vientiane, the capital of Laos. Arrive in Vientiane in the late afternoon. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 6: Vientiane City Tour

After breakfast, begin your city tour with a visit to Wat Sisaket, the oldest temple in Vientiane, famous for its thousands of miniature Buddha statues. Next, explore Wat Phrakeo, which once housed the famous Emerald Buddha.

Continue to one of Laos' most important cultural landmarks, the sacred That Luang Stupa, before heading to Patuxay Monument, also known as the Arc de Triomphe of Laos.

The next stop is COPE, a rehabilitation center for victims of unexploded ordnance from the Vietnam War, shedding light on one of the biggest challenges Laos still faces today.

Finally, drive about 30 minutes outside the city to visit the Buddha Park, a fascinating collection of Buddhist and Hindu sculptures on the banks of the Mekong River. End the day with a beautiful sunset over the Mekong. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 7: Vientiane - Pakse - Tadlo

After breakfast, transfer to Vientiane Airport for your flight to Pakse. Upon arrival in Pakse, you will be welcomed and immediately transferred to the Bolaven Plateau, a cool highland region overlooking the Mekong Valley.

Your first stop is Houey Ten Village, known for its traditional knife and blade-making craftsmanship. Next, visit a tea plantation, followed by the stunning Tad Fan Waterfall, famous for its dramatic twin cascades plunging into the jungle.

Continue to a coffee plantation, where you will learn about Laos’ world-famous coffee production. Then, explore the vibrant Tha Teng Market, where ethnic minorities sell colorful goods and produce.

The journey proceeds with visits to two ethnic minority villages: Ban Bong Neua (Alak Village) - known for its traditional ways of life. Ban Kokphung (Katu Village) - where locals still practice the unique tradition of keeping coffins under their houses.

In the afternoon, arrive at Tadlo, home to another stunning waterfall. Enjoy the rest of the day relaxing by the falls or taking a refreshing swim in the natural pools. Overnight in Tadlo.

Day 8: Tadlo - Wat Phou - Khong Island

This morning, visit the Paxuam Waterfall, a scenic spot surrounded by lush nature.

Afterward, take a drive to the magnificent pre-Angkorian temple of Wat Phou, one of the most stunning temples in Southeast Asia. Originally a Khmer outpost, Wat Phou later became an important Buddhist pilgrimage site. The temple structures date back to the 11th century, though the location was considered sacred as early as the 5th century. The complex is built at the foot of Mount Phou Khao, which is revered due to its Linga-shaped peak.

After a free lunch, continue your journey south toward the famous 4,000 Islands region. You will arrive at Khong Island in the afternoon.

Overnight on Khong Island.

Day 9: Don Khong - Don Khone - Champasak

After breakfast, embark on a traditional boat tour to explore the breathtaking 4,000 Islands region.

Your first stop will be Don Khone Island, where you will explore the island by bicycle. Here, you can admire French colonial houses, visit Laos’ first railway station, and see an old locomotive. Then, head to the stunning Liphi Waterfall (also called Samphamith), a natural border between Laos and Cambodia.

Afterward, take the boat back to the mainland and continue by land to the majestic Khone Phapeng Waterfall, the largest waterfall in Southeast Asia, often referred to as the "Niagara of the East."

Following the visit, drive to Ban Muang, where you will take a ferry to Champasak.

Overnight in Champasak.

Day 10: Champasak - Pakse - Departure
